Personal Bio Hi, my name is James Martin. I am a former home-schooled student who graduated in 2013 at 17. I love science and am currently studying Molecular Biology here at Princeton. I love being black and am an active participant in the Black Graduate Caucus in my free time. And I also love Jesus and am an active member of the Christian community on campus.
Fun Fact Beyonce wanted to meet me.
Research Keywords Bioengineering, Metabolism, Optogenetics
Research Pitch Imagine if it was possible to make Biofactories, cells that are able to synthesize important products like vaccines or biofuels. Well it is. Nevertheless, the currently used methods are largely inefficient. Thus, I am studying if using light to cluster metabolic enzymes together in a pathway can increase their efficiency of metabolite production. Using light, we would be able to not only be able to increase production efficiency, but light is cheap, making production of biofuels or vaccines extremely cost effective.
